XXV FIG CONGRESS 2014

The XXV FIG Congress 2014 and General Assembly was held from 16 to 21 June 2014 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. Organised by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the event was hosted by the Association of Authorised Land Surveyors Malaysia (PEJUTA). This was the first time Malaysia hosted a FIG Congress, marking a significant milestone for PEJUTA since its establishment in 1979.
The congress attracted more than 2,700 participants from over 120 countries. The programme featured a wide range of technical sessions, workshops, an international exhibition, and several FIG meetings. PEJUTA took responsibility for all local hosting arrangements including venue logistics, hospitality, and the social and cultural programme.
President of PEJUTA, LSr Mohammad Azmi bin Mohd Zin expressed his honour in hosting the global surveying community and invited participants to experience the cultural diversity and hospitality of Malaysia. He highlighted the importance of international collaboration in advancing the surveying profession. Mr. Teo Chee Hai, President of FIG at the time, noted that the congress would serve as an opportunity for delegates to share knowledge, strengthen networks, and engage in discussions on global challenges affecting the profession.
The Opening Ceremony was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, reflecting the national government’s support towards the surveying and geospatial profession. The event concluded with positive feedback from delegates and stakeholders, recognising both the professional quality of the congress and the warm hospitality extended by the Malaysian hosts.
PEJUTA is proud to have played a key role in facilitating this successful international event and remains committed to supporting the development of the surveying profession at both national and international levels.
